On this #GivingTuesday help us continue our work of advocating on behalf of Syrians in their plight for freedom.  Syrians seeking freedom and democracy have paid a high price over the past 5 years, enduring the wrath of a dictator, his allies, and ISIS.  Though most Syrians would prefer to stay in their homeland, with the lack of safe zones and security, many have had to flee to seek refuge and a promise of a better tomorrow.

The Syrian American Council, through advocacy, media, and grassroots, aims to amplify the voices of Syrian-Americans as they support Syrians seeking that promise. Until they can go back home, we are working to ensure that they are treated with dignity here in the United States.

Heavy backlash ensued from Governors across the U.S. as talk of more refugees came up, many blatantly equating refugees to terrorists.   SAC immediately launched the 'Meet A Refugee' campaign. Invite letters went out to governors asking them to meet refugees in their states to get to know the real people behind the word refugee and to listen to their stories.  Press conferences are being held in those states to give refugees a chance to voice their gratitude of a safe heaven for themselves, but more importantly for their children.
