The Syrian American Council and Americans for a Free Syria Express Deep Sympathy on the Passing of Michel Kilo

Michel Kilo’s contributions to the revolution will not be forgotten.

WASHINGTON D.C., April 19, 2021 – The Syrian American Council and Americans for a Free Syria today send their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Michel Kilo on the occasion of his passing. Michel Kilo’s courage and voice as a leader of the Syrian revolution will live on in the next generation who will carry the torch of freedom forward.

“Michel’s passing is a tragic loss for the cause of a free Syria,” said Dr. Zaki Lababidi, president of the Syrian American Council. “His bravery in pushing for political reforms while in Syria, and as a leader in our revolution from exile provided inspiration and hope for free Syrians everywhere. Even in the most difficult moments, Michel always focused on a future for Syria in which its children could live freely and in peace.”

Today, free Syrians around the world feel the immense loss of this revolutionary icon. Michel Kilo’s story is the story of the struggle for a democratic, independent, and free Syria, and his tireless efforts and steadfast belief in a better future will always be remembered. The Syrian American Council and Americans for a Free Syria will continue to carry forward Kilo’s vision and legacy.
